FBB Ambassador Rodri crowned Ballon d'Or 2024 winner

Exciting news

We are thrilled to congratulate our very own FBB ambassador Rodri on winning the prestigious Ballon d'Or 2024, awarded to the best footballer in the world.

Rodri is not one to seek the spotlight, but his skill, dedication, and humility make him exceptionally deserving of this honour. Beyond his accomplishments on the midfield with Manchester City and the Spanish national team, where his clutch performances have been crucial in both the Premier League & Euros, Rodri has shown a deep commitment to Manchester, a city that has played a significant role in his journey.

Rodri and FBB

Rodri has been a dedicated ambassador for Football Beyond Borders for two years, standing with us to support the next generation. Both on and off the pitch, he is an inspiring leader. His generous contribution of £100,000 has fueled our Manchester programmes, reaching hundreds of young people across the North West.

In October, Rodri joined us at our Half-Term Year 3 Festival at Millennium Powerhouse in Manchester, celebrating the achievements of our young people. And just last summer, he spent time with students at Manchester Enterprise Academy, sharing insights on how being a good student takes the same discipline and hard work as being a good player. It's safe to say that Rodri has left a lasting impression on everyone he’s met at FBB.

This award is not just another accolade; it is a testament to Rodri's role as a leader and role model, both within the sport and beyond.

Please join us in celebrating this achievement for Rodri, and in continuing our work to build brighter futures together with him at our side.

A big thank you to our partner Nike for facilitating this relationship and introducing us to a player determined to support Manchester’s next generation.
