It's been a busy start to the decade for Football Beyond Borders with the education charity nominated for the Tessa Jowell Social and Environmental Impact Award. The accolade sees FBB recognised amongst some esteemed company, with nominations also going to Nike, Toyota, The British Olympic Foundation, Premiership Rugby, and The 1851 Trust.

The Sport Industry Awards is the most prestigious commercial sports awards in Europe and the industry’s flagship event. Attended by 1,700 high profile guests from the British and international sport industry including business leaders, celebrities, sporting legends and media.

Football Beyond Borders works with over 1000 young people across 55 projects a week in London, Essex, and the North West of England. They use the power of football to educate and inspire young people who are passionate about football but disengaged at school in order to help them finish school with the skills and grades to make a successful transition into adulthood.

When asked about the reaction to being nominated for the award, co-founder Jasper Kain shared:

"This award nomination is recognition of the tireless work of our practitioners and the clear impact that they are having on the young people across our programmes. It is through their work that we managed to keep 95% of our at-risk young people in mainstream school between 2018/19."

A busy start to 2020 for Football Beyond Borders

The nomination also completes a trio of recognition of the organisation's work in 2020. They were recognised as part of the top 100 Changemakers of 2020 by The Big Issue and nominated for the Spirit of Britain award in the British Muslim Awards.
